Rick is pirate. He met Yuri while pretending to be an apprentice on the ship. After the pirates were arrested, he was sentenced to death and the only way for him to live is if he kills his opponent in the fighting tournament. In the tournament, his opponent was Yuri. He knew that Yuri is from the Demon Tribe, so if he kills him, he will gain a reputation and he can even start over. But Yuri won the fight and spared his life. However, he was shot by one of the guards anyway. He was saved when Yuri and the others took him with them while escaping from the humans.
